Looking to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing within the travel industry? At Wendy Wu Tours, our internship program gives students the opportunity to work on real-world projects across SEO, EDM campaigns, content creation and campaign strategy.
We recently caught up with Rihana, one of our recent interns, to hear about her experience working alongside our marketing team, the skills she developed throughout her internship, and how the experience helped shape her future career goals. Rihana shares what it’s really like completing a marketing internship in a fast-paced travel and digital marketing environment.
What attracted me to Wendy Wu Tours was its strong reputation in travel and digital marketing. As a marketing student, I wanted real experience in SEO, EDM campaigns and understanding ROI beyond just university theory. I was keen to see how campaigns are actually built, tracked and improved in a corporate setting.
Every day was different, which made it exciting. As soon as I came into the office, I could see how marketing, sales and product all worked closely together. In meetings and daily check-ins, campaigns were broken down into small tasks with clear goals that the team would consistently hit.
I worked on SEO tasks, helped build and structure EDM campaigns, and supported content creation. I also got exposure to UX/UI development, which showed me how website layout and user experience directly impact marketing performance. It helped me understand how everything connects in terms of attracting customers and creating a smooth transition into purchases.
My favourite moment was presenting my final project to the team. Creating something from scratch and sharing it with professionals was a big confidence boost. It made me realise I could apply what I’ve learned at university in a real-world environment.
I developed a much clearer understanding of how digital marketing works in a corporate setting, especially SEO, EDM strategy, content planning and performance tracking. I also became more confident using marketing software and working independently under deadlines.
I was especially proud of creating my customised tour to Vietnam because I got to experience the full process of building a tour and then professionally pitching it. I was also proud of being trusted with different daily tasks and learning new concepts quickly while giving every task my full effort throughout the internship.
This internship allowed me to put my knowledge into action. It helped me better understand my strengths and where I can continue improving, especially within content creation. It confirmed that I enjoy working in a collaborative marketing environment and reinforced that this is the right career path for me.
Honestly, don’t think twice. You’re in safe hands. The team is supportive, and if you take initiative, you’ll gain real experience that genuinely prepares you for your future career.
